THIS BLOCK IS A DROP IN FOR JOHN DEERE 317 APPLICATIONS USING A 1 INCH CRANK. ( NOTE) PIC IS A MAGNUM BLOCK ,THEY ARE SAME EXCEPT YOU'LL HAVE MOUNT FOR POINTSAND NO OIL FILTER HOLE! WE ALSO NOW HAVE THESE IN 1 1/8INCH CRANK FOR OTHER APPLICATIONS
BLOCKS INCLUDES A COMPLETE SHORT BLOCK PLUS HEADS AND BREATHER.
ENGINE HAS BEEN FULLY RE-MACHINED AND NEW PARTS INSTALLED ( SEE BELOW )

NOTE: THESE ENGINES ARE VERY POPULAR AND WE DO HAVE A WAITING LIST NOW. I STILL HAVE SEVERAL GOOD CORES BUT IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE , CALL AHEAD FIRST TO FIND OUT HOW LONG A WAIT BEFORE WE CAN SHIP. EACH BLOCK IS INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE OR CRACKS AND THEN WASHED. CYLINDERS ARE BORED OVERSIZE, CRANK ROD JOURNALS ARE TURNED AND POLISHED FOR PROPER FIT. BLOCK HALVES ARE THEN RESURFACED AND OIL PUMP CHECKED OR REPLACED. GOVERNOR PIN IS REPAIRED FOR LONG ENGINE LIFE ( ELIMINATES THE MOST COMMON REASON FOR ENGINE FAILURE ). THEN VALVES SEATS AND GUIDES ARE REGROUND FOR GOOD SEAL. ALL ENGINES GET A NEW GOVERNOR GEAR INSTALLED, NEW PISTONS AND RINGS, RECONDITIONED RODS, AND GASKETS AND SEALS.
THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT ENGINE TO REBUILD PROPERLY BUT WE HAVE DONE OVER 600 IN THE PAST 15 YEARS WITH GOOD RESULTS. OUR CAM PIN REPAIR SOLVES THE PROBLEM OF THE GOVERNOR KNOCKING A HOLE THRU THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK AS MANY OF YOU HAVE FOUND OUT. SINCE THIS IS ALL KOHLER OEM PARTS THE COST TO MACHINE THIS ENGINE AND BUY THE PARTS WOULD RUN ABOUT $1050 AT SHOP RATES AND YOU STILL HAVE TO ASSEMBLE.
YOU ADD YOUR SHEET METAL, CARBURETOR, MANIFOLDS, STARTER, FLYWHEEL, AND OIL TO COMPLETE. ( WE HAVE THE HARD WORK DONE! )
CURRENTLY THERE IS A 12 WEEK WAIT ON A BLOCK AFTER THE PURCHASE! SO REMEMBER BEFORE PURCHASING THAT IT WILL NOT SHIP FOR AT LEAST 12 WEEKS AS WE HAVE OTHER ORDERS TO FILL FIRST AND WE DO ALL ORDERS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. THANK YOU
( CORE IS REQUIRED) A Core charge must be paid before shipping if you did not ship us your block upfront. Also it must be a rebuildable blockor you can incur additional charges.
Because these are on older machines just ordering for an application or giving a spec number doesn't insure you will get a motor that fits as someone may have adapted another engine to fit. This is why we always ask questions about block to insure we send proper product to you.
UPDATE ( We have had a number of people order a product other than what we know fits recently, and even after us telling them it wasn't right for their application they told us what to send. Then when engine didn't fit because they measured wrong, they claimed it was our fault. We (always write down what customer says to avoid a problem later). This is very costly to us by the time we return and build another so we have a new policy. If you order a motor other than what is supposed to fit we will tell you and take order. We will send a paper detailing what you wanted and what should fit your tractor and it must be signed and returned. If engine is wrong fit when it gets there we will pickup, return to us , refund your money minus $240 for a twin and $150 for a single and you will have to find elsewhere.
We ask plenty of questions to avoid this so fortunately it seldom happens but some people just don't take the time to check important things we ask them to check and it causes problems.
