This is a brand new rebuild, not a brand new engine!
A properly remanufactured engine is as good or better than a new one as ( seasoned ) blocks have less chance of warpage or change as you use them than a new one.
You can't get this quality of work at a local mower shop or dealer as it requires an engine rebuild/machine shop with proper equipment and know how. This is not just a bored out engine with the valves ground but a fully remanufactured block and most of the work done is listed below.
We have a general pic showing and may not be exactly like yours but we ask the proper questions upon ordering to insure you get a drop in fit for your application. We have blocks available for most any application except for cranes and lifts that use special spline cranks. In those cases we ask customer to send us block up front!

My health and hospital stays have been an issue for the past 2 years and I was thinking of retiring but I've been feeling much better the past 4 months so we will be doing these again next year at a reduced amount. We use to schedule these at 4 to 5 a week for years but now find that 1 1/2 to 2 a week is all I can do comfortably. For that reason we will be taking orders differently this coming year. We normaly sell 1 to 2 a week till end of April and then 50 orders roll in in a few weeks and we are behind the rest of year. I am still catching up from last year so all orders will be 8 weeks till ship and we will only take that many orders. This means the 50 to 60 people that wait till May will be out of luck. Sorry but I am 1 person. We have other people here but I do all the twins.
Cores and core charge: We do require a good rebuildable core back at end of purchase. Block must be borable and not cracked or broken at bottom of cylinder, Crank must be turnable and usable, and cam must not be cracked or worn down. In these cases you will get a good part and docked for some core value. Tell us what you have and we can usually tell you what you'll get back. Order: You can pay core charge up front and we will build motor and send up fron, you put old core in our box and we pick up. If core is good you get refund or a portion. On the Onan if 1 seat out you get docked $100. The other way is buy up front , we send a box, you pay shipping back to us but it still must be rebuildable or you pay core charge or we refund money.

Because we have been getting so many bad cores in it has been impossible to hold the price on engine or cores. All core charges have been raised to $400 up front unless you want to send us your ( good ) core to avoid paying core up front. We can tell you how to inspect your core before sending if you think its good !We have a general block pictured below and not tWork Performed: All blocks are degreased, glass beaded, and hot tank pressure washed to remove any sediment or glass bead. Cylinders are bored or sleeved, cranks are reground or welded back to standard, valves guides, and seats are ground, resized, and cut to specs. All sealing surfaces are flattened. Oil pump is rebuilt, cam govenor assembly rebuilt or replaced, and govenor arm seal replaced. Cam and main bearings are replaced and align bored. New pistons, rings, rods, gaskets, seals, and thread inserts as needed Balance of gaskets are sent with block to customer Block are coated with heat proof primer
Also note that if you buy a 20 HP we must have a like core returned. You can't take your 16 Hp to a shop and have them rebuild it to a 20 Hp and we can't either.
